Make Your Own Notebooking Pages. My assumption is that your notebooking pages will have lots of lines for the children to write on.

Make Your Own Notebooking Pages

So this is where I start --a simple page of lines. The lines can be spaced however far apart you desire. You can even add the dotted middle line for beginning writers. This step actually takes the longest, but once you've made a basic lined page, save it as a template to be used over and over for all your notebooking pages. Instead of drawing individual lines, you can also insert a table with one column and turn off the vertical borders. This is what your first step will look like when done -- just lines on a page. I chose lines with small spaces in between for those pesky letters than hang down. To make the lines, you should use -- big surprise here -- the line tool! Although the line tool is precise, it can get messy if you accidentally move a line. Here are the steps: My lines, just a few of them, are just how I want them. When the lines are selected, it looks like this: FoldiFun Factory. Welcome to my Foldables FoldiFun Factory!

My Reading Notebooks

I'm using a combo of a binder and a notebook for reading workshop this year, and I'm not 100% happy with it. I thought I would share some of what I've been doing. Maybe you can help me tweak. Fact and Opinion. Hello Everyone!

Fact and Opinion

It is a fact that we were really busy today reading and writing nonfiction!! It is my opinion that the little fiction/nonfiction activity we did today was my favorite! :) We have been so busy with understanding what the difference is between fiction and nonfiction, and learning the features of nonfiction selections, I thought I had better slip a little fact and opinion strategy in our day. I used this visual to help them understand, and we talked a lot about some of the facts we are learning lately and how they differ from how we feel, think, or believe about something. The kids were then invited to write either a fact or an opinion about raccoons. If they wanted to write a fact, they had to write it on a blue sticky, opinions went on a pink heart sticky. Foldables are a registered trademark by Dinah Zike. They are interactive 3D graphic organizers created from all types of paper goods and are cut up and folded in different ways, to present different information. They have flaps that fold and can be lifted to reveal information. They encourage student ownership of study material, provide a kinesthetic component to teaching strategies, and promote long-term retention of academic lessons.
