Kul@lära: Stonecold- bokläsning + olika digitala uppgifter. Robert Swindells roman Stonecold är en spännande och ganska lättläst bok som vi haft i klassuppsättning en längre tid.
Boken handlar om en ung kille som inte kommer överens med sin styvpappa och som beger sig till London där han lever som hemlös. Under detta läsprojekt gavs eleverna möjlighet att göra olika extrauppgifter i anslutning till boken, gärna för att förstärka och för att få en chans att visa upp förmågor som den enskilde behövde jobba med. "Bob" Swindells (born 20 March 1939) is an English author of children's and young-adult fiction. Biography[edit] Born in Yorkshire, Bradford, Swindells worked for a newspaper after leaving school aged 15.[2] He served with the Royal Air Force and held various jobs before training as a primary school teacher. While in training he wrote his first novel, When Darkness Comes, which was published by Brockhampton Press of Leicester in 1973.[3] He combined writing with teaching until 1980 when he took up writing full-time. He was still writing as of his 71st birthday (March 20, 2010). He first won the Red House Children's Book Award with Brother in the Land (1984), a novel set in a post-apocalyptic world.
In a 2010 by-election and in the 2011 local elections, Swindells stood for Parliament as the Green Party of England and Wales candidate for the Worth Valley ward of Bradford City Council. Although at school he showed a flair for descriptive and narrative writing, Robert failed his 11-plus. He left school at the age of 15 to become a copyholder on a local newspaper – “reading aloud from the original copy while the proof reader checked it”.
