Arteascuola: The Ming Vases. Still Life with Mixed Media. An interesting experience in using mixed media, has been tested in the classes of grade 8, where we have mixed so many different techniques in a single work. The first step was to paint some objects with acrylic paint, using tonal gradations learned in a previous lesson. Afterwards the objects of “still life” have been cut and pasted on a background collage made with newspaper sheets. The final touch was to add the shadows in charcoal. Like this: Like Loading... Samuel Gomez Draws a 90-Square-Foot Masterpiece

Gomez’s style embodies a ‘hybrid surreal-steampunk’ aesthetic and his preferred tools include: graphite, pens, acrylics and inks. Gomez has also worked over a decade as a Creative Designer and Illustrator for some of the top design agencies in New York and Chicago. He graduated from Altos de Chavon in 1999 and received his BFA in Communication Design from Parsons in New York.

In an ambitious artwork entitled Deadpan Comedy, Gomez drew a colossal triptych for the 2013 ArtPrize competition. This triptych drawing is a surreal graphic satire in which, instead of depicting the ‘ideally wished’ landscape of the future of nature, Samuel Gomez showcases the very things that are preventing us from moving forward and coexisting with nature in a responsible manner. How to Paint Photorealism: A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Paint Your Own Photorealistic Paintings

This step-by-step guide may be an equally interesting read for non-artists who have a deep appreciation for photorealist art and want to understand how photorealist paintings are created, from start to finish. You can see more of my photorealist work on my art website. There are many mediums an artist can use to paint (or draw) photorealistically. The most common are oils, acrylics (paintbrushed or airbrushed), watercolor, graphite, colored pencil, and pastel. The majority of my photorealist work is done in acrylics using a paintbrush (as opposed to an airbrush), although I have used watercolor and colored pencil as well. Who am I? I am a self-taught Photorealist painter, focusing primarily on photorealistic still lifes.

eX de Medici: Emblems of Death Transformed

Don’t be fooled by the sentimental allusions to memento mori, de Medici’s work is a world away from the insipid decay and morbid tones of the Vanitas genre. Her signature imagery of guns and skulls is not simply an aesthetic delight of colour and design, these are complex emblems laden with messages of power and despair. Since 1996, de Medici has been working on her Species series, loosely defining these works as an ongoing mapping of modern international weaponry and unclassified moths of Australia. Between 2000-2001, de Medici volunteered as an artist’s fellow at the CSIRO Entomology Division’s Australian National Insect Collection, painting and assisting with the classification of some of Australia’s rarest and potentially extinct moth species.

Judy Watson 1991 In 1990 Judy Watson was able to fulfil her life-long dream of researching her Aboriginal heritage by travelling to her grand-mother's country of north-west Queensland. A direct descendant of the Waanyi clan, Watson was born in 1959 at Mundubbera in the coastal hinterland of Queensland. She grew up in Brisbane and attended the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education, Toowoomba, where she gained a Diploma of Creative Arts in 1979.

Subsequently Watson lectured at the Townsville College of TAFE and tutored at the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education. In exploring her background, Watson encountered many isolated Aboriginal artists, and she has assisted them in gaining access to art facilities. ModernMantra. Marilyn Stevens.
