Plantar Fasciitis: A Conservative Treatment Approach Plantar fasciitis, a term used to denote inflammation of the plantar fascia that surrounds the heel and arch, is one of the most common occupational and sport related causes of foot pain.
SYMPTOMS The initial chief complaint is typically a sharp pain on the heel and arch of the foot, particularly noticeable with the first few steps in the morning or after long time periods of non-weight bearing. Usually, after walking approximately 10 to 12 steps the plantar fascia looses up and the pain gradually diminishes. However, symptoms may resurface as throbbing, a dull ache, or a fatigue-like sensation in the arch of the foot after prolonged periods of standing, especially on unyielding cement surfaces.

What do instruments have to offer that I can't do with my hands? A practitioner's skilled-hands can do things that instruments cannot do. What instruments have to offer is that they can assist a practitioner's skilled-hands to deliver beneficial mechanical forces that would be difficult, or impossible, to produce on their own. For example, the ArthroStim® instrument can produce a dozen spring-cushioned mini-toggle-recoil™ thrusts per second. Rapid, repetitive thrusting enables a practitioner to distribute the overall thrusting force over a series of thrusts.
The Story of Quantum Neurology. My life’s work was revealed to me through the journey of my wife’s moderate spinal cord injury and recovery.
My wife, Lori returned home from a massage one day, barely able to walk. A massage therapist had performed a manipulation that severely injured Lori’s spine. Pain ran from her lower back and down her legs. She was completely numb from below the navel, her groin and backside, the back of her legs and the bottom of her feet. She was barely able to walk because all she was able to feel was the excruciating pain of her bones as they touched the ground. I was completing my last trimester of Chiropractic school but nothing I had learned in school had prepared me for this. Physical Therapy Software: Adoption of an Integrated Tablet-Based EMR in Your Practice - EMR NEWS. It’s not enough for an EMR to be web-based, it needs to be tablet-based. Although the two terms seem synonymous, Nitin Chhoda explains the important difference between the two, and what it means to your practice. Adopting an EMR is beneficial for patients and physical therapists, but simply collecting information without being able to share among medical professionals defeats the spirit and purpose of physical therapy software automation. The American Physical Therapy Association has set forth a vision that allows therapists to treat clients across multiple health care settings and a tablet-based EMR will help make that goal a reality.
Office Autopilot. Journey of a DPT Student. With experience comes responsibility. It's a simple concept, but I never fully appreciated it until recently when I was involved in the discharge decision-making process for patients I've been working with. As I'm sure any physical therapist working in inpatient rehab knows, we have weekly staff meetings to determine goals, establish discharge dates and discuss progress for each patient on the unit. Now that I'm starting to settle in, I'm also getting the opportunity to participate in these meetings and provide my clinical insight. AAOMPT Student Special Interest Group. The Psoas Muscle. Article - Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) Applied to Knee Pain. IntroductionAn additional tool for the physical therapist's 'manual therapy toolbox', muscle energy techniques (METs) can help to release and relax muscles, and also stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. METs are unique in their application, as the client provides the initial effort while the practitioner facilitates the process. The primary force originates from the contraction of soft tissue; this force is then utilised to assist and correct the presenting musculoskeletal dysfunction.
