Krug said the man, whose 49th birthday would have been today, was intoxicated when he came to his home Saturday afternoon. The man stopped at Cedar House about 9:45 p.m. for a blanket and left after about 15 minutes.

Homelessness is a major concern in Linn County. An average of 450 to 500 people are homeless on any given night and half of those are children. Local assistance programs served over 3,800 homeless people last year. When homeless shelters are full, people are turned away and are left to seek shelter in the streets, parks, parking ramps, alleys, under bridges or in and around area hospitals. Law enforcement and social services have the daunting task of trying to find shelter and assistance for these people. Community Circle of Care, Inc.
