PhET Sims - Science / Math. A collection of fun, interactive, research-based simulations for science and math instruction in Grades K-12 and university, developed by PhET Interactive Simulations at University of Colorado Boulder ( All simulations are based on the results of education research and tested with students.

PhET Sims - Science / Math

Each PhET simulation provides a highly interactive environment which supports student exploration and discovery – making the invisible visible, including models and representations, providing measurement tools, and emphasizing real world connections. PhET’s simulation design supports a variety of instructional uses (as lecture demos, labs, homeworks, etc.) and may be coupled with activity worksheets, response questions, peer instruction, or group work. The simulations may be used to introduce topics or to develop a deeper, more robust understanding. Into The Outdoors. Discovery Education. 3M Science of Everyday Life - Discovery Education. Colorful Convection Currents at Steve Spangler Science

Use food coloring or the Fizzers coloring tablets to color the warm water yellow and the cold water blue. Each bottle must be filled to the brim with water. Hot over cold: Place the index card or old playing card over the mouth of one of the warm water bottles. Hold the card in place as you turn the bottle upside down and rest it on top of one of the cold water bottles. The bottles should be positioned so that they are mouth to mouth with the card separating the two liquids. If you are using our Split Demo Tank, follow these directions: Make sure that the tank divider is firmly in place. Hot air balloons rise because warm air is lighter than cold air.

The movement of warm and cold water inside the bottles (or tank) is referred to as the convection current. What are the results of temperature inversion? More Weather Experiments. Simple Machines. Rader's KAPILI.COM:Topic List. Lawrence Hall of Science - 24/7 Science. How fast does the wind blow?
