SteelWork by Jaap Epema. I Can Has Bed?! 7 Upcycled Suitcase Pet Beds for Cat Naps. All kinds of adorable, these converted cat sleepers make for the cutest of naps – as if your feline friend were not already sufficiently snugly!
Modular ‘Love Mattress’ Made Flexible for Cuddly Couples. Snuggling is an essential if rarely-discussed component of a comfortable sleeping arrangement for many (pairs of) people, usually aided indirectly by soft mattresses and/or strategic sheet and pillow usage.
Lounging Large: Koala 45 Oversized Hammock Bed. Lay back, relax and maybe catch a nap – with eight of your closest friends – in the adult equivalent of a children’s fort.
The Koala 45 by Belgian design group Stal Collectief is an oversized hammock that provides an open-air relaxation and hangout space on brightly-colored fabric stretched across a wooden frame. Held together with twelve bolts, the Koala 45 elevates a comfy lounging surface about four feet above the ground. The canopy includes an open area enabling pendant lights to be dropped inside. Pictured is Stal Collectief’s Zwol pendant, a modern twist on the industrial caged trouble light. A private residence would certainly require an oversized living room to match the proportions of this highly unusual bed, but it would fit right into many modern office environments.
Bare Bones: Shelf Lamps Made from Bulbs, Cords & Boards. How many ways can you use three readily-available components from your local hardware store?
As it turns out, some flat wooden boards, lengths of electrical cable and raw construction-style, work-light fixtures can go a long way. William Raffredi is an Italian designer who specializes in simplicity, as shown in this series of shelves, desks and lighting hybrids. It is easy to imagine these various constructions populating an entire room. Sketches give insights into his design process, showing the endless possibilities of piecing something like this together (which, in retrospect, looks easier than it likely was).
Each of these constituent elements readily lends itself to a primary and secondary function. The result is little more than a skeleton – in a way, the product defers to its contents … the shelves take second position to the items that adorn them, with snaking cables and a solitary bare bulb serving simply as added accent pieces. Secret Drawer: Bookshelf Hides Magnetically-Locked Storage. Objects « P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S. Integrated Living Room Interior Designs by Amy Lau. A good interior designer is often much more than just an interior design expert, as Amy Lau demonstrates over and over again with her beautifully composed living room designs.
She is clearly influenced by modernism and her passion for abstract art but her designs are so different it is only their refined details and degree of internal consistency that show them to be the work of the same interior designer. Paper CD case. [VIDEO] Fascinating Lamps by Calabarte. Calabarte is the pseudonym of a Polish artist named Przemek Krawczynski, whose art takes on a peculiar but incredibly beautiful form: cool lamps.
The name itself is a portmanteau of two words – art (obviously), and calabash, the fruit that carries his imagination. The calabash is a bottle gourd originating in India, although Calabarte gets his supply from Senegal. Due to ancient domestication and usage, the bottle gourd has an incredibly tough outer shell. In the past, the gourd’s usage was defined mostly as a water container, due to having a tough, smooth shell with an ergonomic shape for handling, and natural buoyancy on water.
Nevertheless, it’s edible both raw and cooked, and used in various cuisines. Due to the combination of dark, thick material with a light source within, the primary art of his work, however, shines in the dark. Alvihanger. For clothes / bags / towels in ”clean” or ”playful” design.

Design. Cooking is a serious and competitive business and professional cooking schools can have the air of military camps where fear and strict order dominate.
Nothing wrong with that in the world of celebrity chefs, fame and Michelin stars. But for the rest of us, cooking is either a fun and enjoyable creative endeavour or a boring daily necessity best avoided at all costs. Many consumer-facing cooking schools, sensing a growing market niche, are offering relaxed, fun classes in cool surroundings that don’t intimidate the participants. The all-female Japanese ABC Cooking Studio has more than 125 casual cooking studios in Japan, Hong Kong and China. High-stakes chefs train elsewhere, but ordinary women who love sophisticated cooking in a happy, relaxed atmosphere flock to ABC whose studios draw more than 250,000 participants per year.
