Fully lined zippered box pouch - pattern and tutorial - it's a Pretty Modern life
I love the look of a zippered box pouch...so incredibly cute. I found many tutorials on the internet, but was disappointed after making pouches following these tutorials to find that they were not fully lined; looks so much nicer when you open your pouch and there are no seams. It took me a long time to figure it out and I thought and thought and thought...then I got it♥ I don't want to keep this knowledge to myself, so here it is. I'd like to thank Jane at Projects by Jane (the only other tutorial like this that I was able to find on the internet - wish I'd found it sooner). Her photos may help you out too if mine fail to communicate properly. 4 Hour Slouchy Summer Hobo Bag

I did it in under 4 hours – so you could make up your bag in the morning and carry it to your beach party or picnic that evening! It’s a cute lace Hobo bag with a fun bright orange lining and tabs for the strap. I used a bright pink zipper for contrast – I think it’s so fun!

Hip To Piece Squares
Earlier this week I had a request to make one of my patchwork journal covers that I sell in my Etsy shop to fit a standard spiral composition notebook. I was excited to get started on a variation of what I normally make, and thought it would be fun to share how I made it with all of you. It should be noted that this isn't a real step by step pattern, but rather more of a loose idea of what I did to make it. If something isn't clear though, leave a comment, and I'll do my best to clarify! What will you need? *6 strips of pretty quilting cottons, measuring at least 7 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" tall. *1 piece of medium weight linen, measuring at least 13" wide x 12" tall *1 piece of a quilting cotton as the lining, measuring at least 17 3/4" wide x 11 1/2" tall * 2 pieces of matching quilting cottons measuring at least 8" wide x 11 1/2" tall (these are the pockets.

A few weeks ago, I went to Dallas for the wedding of a friend of mine from college, and unsurprisingly, the reception ended up doubling as a mini college reunion. Some of those people I literally hadn’t seen since graduation day. Naturally, the experience got me thinking about the thing I am always thinking about: sewing.
