"It's all Greek to me" in 30 languages - Thought - The Forum of European Citizens In France thanks to the studies of Henriette Walter, linguist, we know that there are 2 roots between french and greek languages. One is very old, from greek > latin > french ; the other one is still living, concerns new scientific words for which very often the greek roots are used as bricks, like in the german language for himself. So, in a 21th century very technologic, French will not end to be closely linked to Greek. The same indicates that among current 10.000 to 15.000 words, French received in fact two major impressive imports from others languages. The first, due to Quatrocento, came from what is Italy today, with something like 1.500 words, quite impressive (Leonardo da Vinci, The Renaissance (rebirth)) for that time ; the second comes from English / American / Globish, because it can be said that when everyone appropriates a language, use it, change it, after a while it isn't at all a local cultural mark.

Visual Index - macOS - Human Interface Guidelines Most macOS apps are built using components from AppKit, a programming framework that defines common interface elements. This framework lets apps achieve a consistent appearance across the system, while at the same time offering a high level of customization. The following AppKit elements are flexible and familiar, and they automatically update when the system introduces appearance changes. In addition to defining the interface of macOS, AppKit defines functionality your app can adopt. Through this framework, for example, your app can respond to gestures on the trackpad and enable features like drawing, accessibility, and printing. macOS tightly integrates with other programming frameworks and technologies too, like GameKit, Metal, SceneKit, and SpriteKit, enabling you to design amazingly powerful apps.
