I finally found that part time job I’d been searching for, and this past Friday I started my first day of work as an office assistant. It’s a great job, and while I still have a lot to learn, I’m excited to not only be working for a small family owned company, but to have friendly and awesome co-workers as well. As it turns out, however, I now have two offices. The office at work and my office at home. While there’s not a lot I can do about the office that isn’t mine – at least there are no scary cubicles lurking about – I can find ways to make mine better organized.
Hair Tutorial: braided 'do
I know I said I would post this hair tutorial yesterday, but obviously I'm a no good liar because today is not yesterday, it's today. This hairstyle is basically the same thing as milkmaid braids, only modified to up the volume and lessen the big part in the back. Pigtails or regular milkmaid braids make me look like I'm balding, as I have a wicked scar in the back of my head. I would recommend doing this in a mirror and checking the back to make sure it's all neat and tidy as you go, because I did not and it's a little (or a lot) messy in the back. I redid it before heading out and it looked much better, so make sure you use a mirror! For full instructions, keep reading after the jump.

Imagine a world where any surface could potentially become a touchscreen for your phone: your hands, clothes, a wall or table. That's the vision behind a new Kinect-like technology called OmniTouch, a wearable system that projects any multi-touch interface onto everyday surfaces, reports New Scientist. Perhaps the most convenient aspect of the technology is how it can be operated on the go, requiring no special calibration for each new surface it is used on. The system adapts easily to surfaces of most textures in 3D space, so it works even when the surface is not flat, such as with your hand, or perhaps a tree trunk.

Hand-Crafted Etched Glass Bottles - Home for the Holidays
Some glass bottles are just too pretty and colorful to toss into the recycling bin. Instead of discarding them, I "etch" them for my own use and to give away as gifts. They're beautiful with flower stems tucked inside, and they make handy containers for bath salts and infused oils or vinegars.
