Technology Resources for The Polar Express I am in love with the book, The Polar Express. To be honest, the movie didn't quite do it for me, but every.single.time I read the book, I get teary-eyed at the end. In fact, one of my most prized Christmas items is an autographed copy of the book from when I was living in NYC and met Chris Van Allsburg himself! So many of you do special celebrations with this book (I'm envious!) CCBC Booklists Compiled by Megan Schliesman, Kathleen T. Horning and Merri V. Lindgren Helping Students Become Better Online Researchers Your students are probably Internet authorities. When it comes to Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, they might know far more than you. All of that time spent tweeting and chatting doesn’t necessarily translate to deep learning though.

Searching the Deep Web - Bates InfoTips I recently developed a private workshop on how to find deep web resources on a specialized topic, and realized that the secret to finding information in the deep web is know that it’s a very different experience than searching the open web. While deep web content isn’t indexed by search engines, you can use search engines to find pointers, leads and links to deep web resources. Even more than with most “traditional” searches, looking for deep web content means thinking like a detective — looking for clues, using your peripheral vision to notice references or footnotes, and knowing when to step back and reassess.
Discovery Ed has a plethora of resources. Even videos can be seen with subtitles. Subtitles can be compiled to make a transcript which is then a non-fiction text. by kjames15 Jul 23
The best resource for teachers ever made!!!! It does require the school to buy licenses but it has lessons, worksheets, videos, even complete units for an entire year with higher level thinking skills. by esteban_cole Jul 15

Discovery Education provides a wealth of resources for various content areas and age groups. A paid membership allows access to tons of videos, articles, lesson plans, and labs. Many schools probably already have a membership for teachers, so the cost may not be prohibitive. I use videos from Discovery Ed on a regular basis to support my lessons. by kalebclyatt Apr 23
