In addition to all the normal activities you’d find at a convention like Anime Expo, the official AX 2011 cosplay masquerade was scheduled to happen on that evening. Due to my incredible experience at WonderCon’s masquerade earlier in the year, I was extremely excited for the chance to see award-winning costumes getting a moment to shine on stage for the chance at winning thousands of dollars in prizes. Avado Launches ‘Patient Relationship Management’ Platform To Help Healthcare Providers Go Digital Back in May, Avado was chosen as a finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt in NYC. The startup’s ambition was, said in reductive terms, to become the Salesforce.com of personal health records. (You can read our initial coverage here.) In other words, like Salesforce’s “customer relationship management” (CRM), Avado is building a “patient relationship management” (PRM) platform in an attempt to create a more fluid and communicative relationship between patients and doctors — by way of connected health records. Because it is visual by nature, the app isn’t limited to one specific language.
One Medical Raises $20 Million For The Modern Doctor’s Office It’s 2011, but most doctor’s offices are still stuck in the 1990s when it comes to patient-facing technology. The receptionist probably has a computer to manage appointments, but typically you still sign in on paper, fill out forms on a clipboard, and your doctor relies on a loosely-bound sheaf of papers to check your medical records. Tom Lee is trying to change that from the ground up with One Medical Group, the venture-backed primary care practice he founded a few years ago where he is CEO. On Friday, he closed a $20 million series E, led by Maverick Capital, with Benchmark, Oak Investment, and DAG Ventures participating. The new round brings the total capital raised since 2007 to $46.5 million.
