Character map template for Silhouette Studio A while back, I posted Character Map templates for Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. The purpose of these is to make it quick and easy to make a one page reference map of the main glyphs in a given font, especially dingbat fonts. Today I’m adding a Silhouette version to the lineup. Monster Portraits I wanted to do a Monster portrait similar to the Owl one I did last year. Using paper mache I enhanced the eyes and nose and then using a variety of paper and painting techniques, created the material for the rest of the monster. Here's the how to just in time for Halloween. Materials Required:cardboard egg cartonpaper towel ripped into stripswhite gluerecycled container for glue/water mixturewax paperpaint acrylic or temperapaper for paintingplastic wrap, bubble wrap (optional)scissorstacky gluesuitable paper for mounting...I used black construction paper Take your egg carton and cut out a eye and nose configuration....something like this...you can get about 3 sets with every carton. Rip up your paper towel into strips.

There are some interesting websites on the internet, which give some fascinating insights into "paperclay." What you need for fidobe (any fibrous material and earth with clay) or padobe (paper and earth with clay) is a fibrous material or paper, and earth with high clay content.
