Character Creation Outline

Oh and isn't it lucky we just started offering dice in the d20pfsrd.com store?! 1) Get a Character Sheet You can either use an online sheet such as the ones at DNDSheets.net, use a Google Spreadsheet, a downloaded PDF, or for a true old-school feel, a standard piece of lined paper, whichever is most convenient for you and agreeable with your GM. Many GM's like to be able to refer to a player's character sheet between sessions so it is more common now to use some sort of online resource but use whatever works for you and your GM.

Here are a few excellent options! 2) Determine Ability Scores Start by generating your character's ability scores. If your GM is using a point buy method, the point amounts and costs of attributes are included at right for your convenience. Note: Your choice of race will offer one or more bonuses to apply to your Ability Scores. 3) Choose a Race 4) Choose a Class 5) Allocate Skill Ranks Examples: Core Races. Race is an important part of what makes characters who they are, yet it’s often all too easy to gloss over the details.

Core Races

After all, most people know the basics: dwarves are short, elves live a long time, and gnomes are dangerously curious. Half-orcs are ugly. Humans are—well, human. Featured Races. While the seven core races are the primary focus of the game, they’re not the only ones suitable to be played as characters.

Featured Races

Other, even stranger races help populate the world, and—with the GM’s permission— also work well as player character races, creating fun and exciting new roleplaying opportunities. This section details the most common of such races. From the nimble catfolk to the fiery ifrits and scavenging, bird-like tengu, these races have just as much motivation to be adventurers as do elves, gnomes, and humans. And while they may not be as common in the major population hubs of the Pathfinder campaign setting, each of the races detailed here presents its own unique background and abilities.

Uncommon Races. Some races are so uncommon that their very existence may be the subject of debate.

Uncommon Races

Living on the fringes of the wilderness, in hidden grottos deep beneath the surface, under the ocean waves, or among the clouds of the night sky, few members of these races hear the call of adventure. The races presented here are all suitable to be played as PCs, but their rarity or isolation often sets them apart. While all are exotic, the reasons for their rarity are as diverse as their forms. Core Classes. Alternate Classes. Base Classes. Prestige Classes. If a prestige class requires 5 ranks in a skill and I have 6 ranks in that skill, do I still meet the requirements?

Prestige Classes

Yes, because skill ranks are inclusive: if you have 6 ranks in a skill, then you have 5 ranks in that skill, and therefore meet the "have 5 ranks in [this] skill" requirement. In the same way, if you have a BAB of +6, then you have a BAB of +5, and therefore meet the "have BAB +5" requirement. In the same way, if you have Str 15, then you have Str 13, and therefore meet the "Str 13" feat prerequisite for Power Attack. However, spellcasting ability is not inclusive: it is possible (mainly through the use of spell-like abilities) to be able to cast 3rd-level spells but not 2nd-level spells.

If you can only cast 3rd-level spells, that does not meet the requirement of "able to cast 2nd-level spells. " Myth Weavers. Slyph Spellslinger. Description Thin, with pointed features, a somewhat handsome face overrun with faint blue swirls.

Slyph Spellslinger

His Slyph nature is strongly evident by these, and by the lightness of his eyes, his hair seemingly always moving due to the breezes that follow him. His armored coat is made of interwoven strips of Dark Cloth, plates hidden underneath for protection. Slung low on his hip is his arcane gun, its own surface well warn and covered with similar swirls as his skin. The coat's pockets are filled, his spellbook residing within, as well as his supplies. Personality Erratic. Character Traits Dangerously Curious Magical Talent- Detect Magic Character Flaws Contacts / Friends Enemies.

Nagaji Twohander. Description Zaiskoro towers over many others, imposing with his brilliant green scales and intimidating, red serpentine eyes.

Nagaji Twohander

The ridge down his back and head is red mixed with green and gold, and is a point of pride for him. He wields his massive greataxe in both hands, and is clothed in a breastplate adorned with twin red fangs over a scaled green. His gauntlets are the same, though they bear his self-made crest, a shield with crossing fangs over a double-headed axe. Personality Aloof, distrusting, unconcerned with most others. Character Traits Reactionary You were bullied often as a child, but never quite developed an offensive response. Character Flaws He is slow to trust and slower to care about others. Contacts / Friends Enemies.
