Letters from Heinrich Himmler: father, mass-murderer. Hundreds of private letters written by SS chief Heinrich Himmler to his wife Marga between the years 1927 - 1945 have been found.
The letters have been analyzed and published in parts. In addition to the letters, photographs, diaries, household journals and a recipe book allegedly from Marga Himmler have also recently come to light. Michael Hollmann, president of the German Federal Archives, told German daily newspaper "Die Welt" that he deems the documents authentic, although their exact origins have yet to be clarified, and the letters exist only as photo negatives.
US soldiers allegedly took the documents from Himmler's home on Tegernsee after the war ended in 1945. When and how they found their way to Chaim Rosenthal in Israel remains unclear. By Bill Kelly I met John Judge in the fall of 1969 outside the University of Dayton Cafeteria at the Kennedy Union where he was manning a table and passing out literature for Conscious Objectors next to a US Marine Corps recruiting table.
One of the papers on his table was a copy of Jim Garrison’s interview in Playboy, which I began to read and he told me to keep it, beginning our great life-long adventure together. When we first met I was a freshman and he had just graduated, but he stuck around campus as a political agitator just to rile the administration. My class was the first freshman class that didn’t have mandatory ROTC for men, a requirement that was lifted after Judge and others protested the forced military commitment, and won. Judge apparently was required to take one year of ROTC, though I can’t imagine him in a military uniform.

The rapid erosion of US-German relations continues to prompt much attention and consternation on both sides of the Atlantic.
The new era urged by presidential candidate Barack Obama in Berlin in 2008— one based on “allies who will listen to one another, learn from one another and, most of all, trust each other”— has conspicuously failed to materialize. With the enthralled crowds that had gathered at the Victory Column now a distant memory, recent German public opinion polls reflect a widespread disillusionment; only 29% regard the United States as a trustworthy partner, while 57% feel their country should be more independent of their longtime ally in matters of foreign policy.
No one appears more aggrieved about this development than German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Various explanations have been advanced regarding this turn of events, but few have taken into consideration the deeper historical and cultural factors at play, especially in the realm of espionage. The Good War. Since the assumption of Western benevolence is difficult to square with the ugly reality of Western imperialism, WWII is routinely invoked in an effort to demonstrate that supposed benevolence.
Nearly seventy years since the defeat of Nazi Germany there is still plenty of political mileage in assuming the mantle of the allied victors of 1945. In recent months politicians and journalists, on both sides of the Atlantic, have frequently resorted to the use-weary Hitler analogy to describe Vladimir Putin's actions in the Ukraine. In March of this year, Hillary Clinton compared Putin's policy in the Ukraine to Nazi Germany's absorption of Czechoslovakia in the late 1930s.
Whilst in early September David Cameron raised the spectre of Chamberlain at Munich to warn of the grave dangers of appeasing the Russians. Churchill was also a stalwart supporter of the British empire, which at the outbreak of WWII continued to deny democratic and civil rights to millions of imperial subjects. As I witness folks debate and deflect about the behind-the-scenes realities of ISIS, Occupy Central, etc., it depresses me to realize how little of our own history is known or discussed -- even by those far outside the mainstream.

New book sheds further light on US government protection of ex-Nazis. By Thomas Gaist 29 October 2014 A new book published Tuesday, The Nazis Next Door: How America Became a Safe Haven for Hitler's Men, by New York Times journalist Eric Lichtblau, details the close relations developed by the US government with Nazi war criminals during and after the Second World War.
Lichtblau's work extends and deepens previous research demonstrating that the US government gave extensive support to top Nazi intelligence personnel as part of its efforts to create a new intelligence apparatus in West Germany, known as the BND. Former Nazis were especially valued by the US government for their experience conducting espionage and waging war against the Soviet Union.
Investigations carried out by the Nazi War Crimes and Japanese Imperial Government Records Interagency Working Group (IWG) during the late 1990s and early 2000s examined thousands of documents relating to US government collaboration with former Nazis. Scientists at Dr. In 1942, Dr.

CIA Director Allen Dulles was just one of the ex-investment-bank lawyers pushing the trade-off, writes Jerry Meldon. By Jerry Meldon Near the end of World War II, the secret collaboration between U.S. spymaster Allen Dulles and Nazi SS officers enabled many German war criminals to escape prosecution and positioned them to fan the flames of post-war tensions between the former allies, the United States and the Soviet Union. In that way, the Old Nazis — aided by Dulles and other ex-Wall Street lawyers – prevented a thorough denazification of Germany and put the Third Reich’s stamp on decades of atrocities during the long Cold War, spreading their brutal death-squad techniques to faraway places, especially Latin America.

American journalist Annie Jacobsen gives an account of this story in her book “Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America”, which was published this week. “Operation Paperclip” began at a secret scientific base on German soil and was pursued in the United States, where 1,600 of Germany’s best scientific minds were moved along with their families – instead of being ostracized and tried for war crimes, they effortlessly slid into the American dream. Did the CIA Use Methods Developed by the Nazis? In her latest and third book, Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America, investigative journalist and Princeton graduate Annie Jacobsen suggests that a secret American intelligence and military program was developed with the help of Nazi doctors, scientists, and even the Third Reich's official surgeon general.
Throughout the text, Jacobsen suggests that, during the Cold War, the United States employed Nazi doctors to create interrogation techniques that were used by members of the Third Reich themselves, including using hallucinogens like LSD on suspected criminals and spies.
