Street Art Utopia's Best of 2011
I couldn’t help but direct everyone to fellow public art loving blog Street Art Utopia as they have compiled a pretty decent list of the best street art of 2011. If you are just getting into the wonderful world of pasting, spraying or making the streets a more creative place, this list is a great place to start (short of Wall and Piece). One of the best things about this genre is it’s diversity – you can decided what you find gimmicky/twee or meaningful and awe-inspiring.
The Great Geek Manual & The World's Most Beautiful Libraries
I make no secret of the fact that I’m a hardcore bibliophile, but we’re a common enough lot these day. And the one sight that always makes me linger over a webpage is rows and rows of neatly organized books. So, in an effort to draw more like-minded read here to my little blog, I decided to round-up a gallery of photos of some of the most beautiful libraries I’ve ever seen photos of. Enjoy. If you enjoy this gallery, make sure you check out our other list of The United States’ Most Beautiful Libraries! Abbey Library St.
Tugboat Printshop: Woodblock Cuts and Prints
Tugboat Printshop is the home woodblock print studio of artists Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth. They create their prints completely by hand—art, woodblock carving, printing and all. In doing so, they hope to preserve and expand the art of woodcutting and woodblock prints. They try to keep pieces affordable but of high-quality, using only top-shelf materials. It's amazing to me how much work goes into each print and how every little detail must be precise, or the final image will flop.
Dancers among us
New York photographer Jordan Matter’s “Dancers Among Us” project features performers from the Paul Taylor Dance Company performing guerrilla dance moves in iconic Manhattan locations Michelle Fleet, NY Public Library (JORDAN MATTER PHOTOGRAPHY / BARCROFT USA) By getting the dancers to pull off their difficult poses surrounded by normal people in everyday situations, Jordan hopes to highlight the skill of talented individuals who walk among us everyday. “I was struck by the skill of the dancers of Paul Taylor and through a friend managed to get guys and girls there to volunteer their time for this project,” Jordan said.
