With that being said, I want to wrap up my journey with all of you and leave you with a little advice as well as some things that I have learned during my short few months here in Argentina. I think the biggest lesson I have learned here so far is to always be open to new experiences.

We bought a 12 cm kiln from July Tool’s Store on AliExpress for £15.92, including shipping to the UK. We also got 50 sheets of kiln paper (£5.10), which is needed to stop the glass from sticking to the bottom of the kiln when it’s melted. New Unit: Immigration Thanks to the addition of another unexpected day at home (snow day #6), I’ve been able to devote quite a bit of time to the next unit that Spanish IV is going to explore: Immigration in the United States. Before I go any further, I must say that I am indebted to the great, original work of Kara Jacobs @(karacjacobs) and the additions of Pilar Munday (@mundaysa) and @cristinaZimmer4. Next, I would like to say that while this is a unit that I will be using with my Spanish IV students, I think that there is material here that can be used with all levels of proficiency, including novice. I’ve created a database for 29 songs that deal with immigration, 17 videos that deal with immigration and 35 links on the web for authentic resources both in Spanish and in English. This is my Pinterest board, where I have been collecting resources for the past several months.
Mix It Up! Authentic Activities for the World Language Classroom Do you ever feel stuck in a rut while planning your language classes? Perhaps you spend a lot of time lecturing at the whiteboard, use the same activities with different vocabulary for every unit, or rely on teaching students grammar because that’s how you were taught. No matter what your go-to activity is, we’re all much more engaging when we vary our activities and make them relatable. If the speaker is engaging, a good lecture every now and then is enjoyable. However, when faced with daily lectures, students dread class, and hence learn less.

Zoom Meeting Activities For Distance Learning in Kindergarten Finding Zoom Meeting Activities That Work When a parent shared that their child didn’t want to join the Zoom meetings, I was crushed. I took it very personally and immediately reached out to a friend for help, hoping she might have some Zoom meeting activities that would prove to be more engaging. Her response was, “Holding a kindergarten Zoom meeting is like herding kittens in a catnip factory.” Yes! Basic Spanish Phrases for Travel It doesn't take much to be understood in Spanish—the folks who speak it in Latin America and Europe are forgiving of errors and very helpful. A combination of sometimes silly pantomime and Spanish basic words and phrases are what you need most to travel in a Spanish-speaking country. "Please" and "thank you" go a long way, and a phrasebook is a big help.
Authentic Assessment Toolbox Home Page to the Authentic Assessment Toolbox, a how-to text on creating authentic tasks, rubrics, and standards for measuring and improving student learning. Inside, you will find chapters on A good place to start -- In this chapter I identify the characteristics, strengths and limitations of authentic assessment; compare and contrast it with traditional (test-based) assessment. Why has authentic assessment become more popular in recent years?

Fun web-based learning games - math, animals, geography, preschool and more "I stumbled upon your fun interactive geography games from a link on the Massachusetts Geographic Alliance Website. Since then, your games have become quite a hit with my competitive colleagues!" --Candice Gomes, Education Outreach Coordinator, Boston Public Library (Sheppard Software's geography games were featured in the Boston Public Library's 2006 Exhibition on Mapping) "Terrific online educational games, especially geography." --Dallas Children's Museum
