Crafts for Men « Keywords: paper, craft, design, gift
This year, I vowed to only make or buy handmade holiday gifts for my friends and family, and I've kept to it so far. But wrapping these gifts in commercial paper didn't seem to make much sense, so I wanted to create some handmade gift wrap to match. I happen to think a gift wrapped in newsprint is actually quite attractive, and love the look of text on a package, but wanted to put in a little more effort.
YARN BRACELET DIY!
See the updated version of this project here! This was one of my favorite crafts to make because it is really relaxing just like knitting and crocheting! This is just like making one of those paracord bracelets, except with yarn. I got some neato small yarn just for making these!

Indoor Rain Room Where Visitors Don't Get Wet
This interactive artwork by Random International allows visitors to experience the rain whenever they feel like it. Based in London, Random International studio creates all kinds of installations that explore behavior and interaction, often using light and movement as the foundation for their artworks. The Rain Room, an exhibition supported by the Arts Council England and made possible by the generous support of the Maxine and Stuart Frankel Foundation for Art, is located at the Curve in the Barbican Centre in London. It's a free installation that runs from October 4 until March 3, 2013. In the exhibit, a 100 square meter grate hangs overhead in the center of the room, from which a continuously falling rain shower streams.

Paper Starburst Pendant Light
So I had a different project that I was going to post today, an update version of my Book Pages Pendant Lantern from Project 19, but then I started working on this light idea, and I am so excited by the results I just couldn’t wait to show you guys! My inspiration and guide was this light from Design*Sponge, that I spotted on Pinterest. I really liked the idea, and I had a roll of white vellum lying around left over from college that I thought would look beautiful.
DIY
Dry shampoo has been a MUST HAVE in my daily hair care routine for the past three years. I’ve gone through countless spray cans of different brands (Psst!, Tresemme, John Frieda, Garnier, Oscar Blandi, Batiste…to name a few), spending way too much for very little product. I started to use plain old baby powder, sprinkling it directly on my roots and rubbing it in, and I found that it worked just as well or even better at giving my hair added volume and combating greasiness. I continued to do this for months until one day I was at work, and I happen to catch a glance of my hair in the mirror. It looked like I had smeared a powdered doughnut all over my head.
