Brooklyn Bride - Modern Wedding Blog
Wouldn’t it be fun to have a bunch of cupcakes instead of one big wedding cake? I found some candle holders at the dollar store and with a little makeover thought it’d be fun to place one at each guest’s table as a favor and as dessert. Just leave some cute boxes at the door so as they leave they can box it up. Bingo! Materials: gold spray paint, pink glitter, glue that adheres to glass (I used a universal glue found here in Denmark), spray mount, glass candlestick, and glass candle holder. Step 1: put some glue around the rim of the candlestick.
Stenciling with Bleach
So here’s tutorial #3 in the bleach series! It’s an easy way to customize a shirt, fabric by removing color instead of adding it. For my first project I used a $1 doily as my stencil. I placed it on a navy t-shirt and sprayed a mist of bleach over top: I moved the stencil to another location and sprayed again. You can see the color starting to change at the top:

Project Denneler: Cheese to Please
Cheese to Please I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of copywriting students at WSU today, and I brought them a little snack - slices of pumpkin pie made out cheddar cheese wedges, assorted crackers and ranch dressing-flavored cream cheese. The topic of today's presentation was: How to think visually. So naturally I shared a slideshow of my food art attempts and tried to explain the concepts behind the creations. After all, great creative always starts with a solid concept, right?I'm not sure if I taught them anything, but at least I fed them.* The crackers I used were Triscuit Thin Crisps Chile Pepper (triangles), Chicken in a Biskit (rectangles), and Chex Mix Bold Party Blend (wavy sticks).
6 Fun Science Experiments for Kids
My kids love to work on science experiments so I’m always on the look out for simple kids science projects that we can do at home, using items we have around the house. These science experiments I found look like fun. Remember to provide supervision as needed and keep your kids away from harmful chemicals! Crystal Geodes Here’s one from Martha Stewart that is actually a great way to decorate eggs for Easter too.
Tried and True Tender Cornbread
Remember that slow cooked sweet potato chili? Goodness, I hope so. Well, bake this yellow number to go alongside it. Salty winking at sweet. Nooked, crannied, and unabashedly crumbly.
Carne Asada Recipe
If you don't have a grill you can use a well-seasoned grill pan or a large cast iron pan on the stove-top. Heat on high to sear and then lower the heat to finish cooking. Make sure to use your stove vent, searing the steak this way can smoke up the kitchen! Method 1 Lay the steak in a large non-reactive bowl or baking dish.
