The 12 Ties that Bind Long-Term Relationships That crazy thing we call love is perhaps one of the most studied and least understood areas in psychology. One reason is that many studies of romantic relationships are carried out not in real life, but in the lab. Making matters worse, many of these studies involve dating relationships between samples of convenience, consisting of undergraduate students. Though these students are certainly capable of close relationships, many of them haven’t matured enough to know themselves, much less what they want out of a romantic partner. What better way to find out about love than to survey the experts? Just as clearly, not everyone felt the same degree of intensity about their spouses. Earlier research by psychologist Arthur Aron, who collaborated in this study, suggested that the people who are most intensely in love are the ones who feel a strong romantic attraction, but who also enjoy engaging in “self-expanding” joint activities that are novel and challenging.
Noelle Speaks: Grow Healthy Hair Naturally - Proven and Tested BEFORE Client with over processed dull and dry hair After: 6 months later - same client with new found hair growth! How to: 1) We do not massage our hair enough! Use approximately 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar for this process and add more if necessary. 2) DO NOT RINSE; after massaging with distilled white vinegar, take a tablespoon of rosemary oil (used to promote hair growth for centuries) and massage all areas of the head - for thicker hair use another tablespoon. **Massaging the scalp is the key here - take your time and be thorough! Distilled white vinegar is a natural product build up remover and clarifies hair. Rosemary Oil - stimulates circulation to hair follicles which leads to healthy hair growth. 3) Now that you have treated your scalp - where the hair grows from and promoted circulation; Use Coconut Oil right from the jar and emulsify in your hands, approximately a quarter size at a time. Coconut oil easy to find in most Supermarkets.
10 Things Henri Cartier-Bresson Can Teach You About Street Photography In preparation for my upcoming street photography workshops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago I have been doing quite a bit of research into Henri Cartier-Bresson, the Godfather of street photography. LA-based Bo Lorentzen even lent me a copy of a documentary on HCB himself, which was quite insightful about his approach to street photography (as well as footage of him shooting on the streets of Paris). Although my current approach in street photography is more like Bruce Gilden and less of Henri Cartier-Bresson, HCB influenced much of my earlier work and I still deeply respect his photography and philosophies. I hope you are able to enjoy these things I believe you can learn from Henri Cartier-Bresson about street photography. 1. If you look at the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, he applied geometry to his images poetically. Don’t only see the world as it is, look for shapes and geometry that occur naturally as well. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Books by Henri Cartier-Bresson
Easy French Twist HairstyleMa Nouvelle Mode I told myself at the beginning of the year that I wanted to do a hairstyle each Friday. So far I feel pretty good about myself, I’ve done all but one Friday! I started with how to use dry shampoo because we all need it, don’t we? The week after I showed you my “dirty hair approved” style which was an easy messy bun with two headbands. Then I showed you a personal favorite, perfect for your next hot date or party, a deep side part with a simple side French braid. Then I missed a week. Today I have another dirty hair approved style. What you’ll need: Basically you tease the heck out of your hair all over, even all the way to the ends. Just in case that wasn’t a good enough explanation, I’ve got a video tutorial for you! Enjoy! I hope you get to give it a try this weekend or even on a busy day this week, it can be done fast!

27 Nail Hacks For The Perfect DIY Manicure Turn your iPhone into a Wireless Touchpad A new, potentially terribly useful, third party application for the iPhone was recently released by a Carnegie Mellon University student named Jahanzab Sherwani. This new application, called 'Touchpad for iPhone', allows you to use your iPhone as a wireless touchpad to control your PC mouse. The application is based heavily on VNsea (a graphical VNC client for both the iPhone and the iPod touch) and requires that you have a VNC server installed on the PC you wish to control. At first, this might seem like a useless parlor trick, but a quick bit of thinking (or reading of Sherwani's suggested uses) quickly reveals a potential for a serious level of utility from Touchpad. Basically, Touchpad allows you full mouse based control over your PC via your iPhone. Sherwani demonstrates the application in a video, playable below: If you don't already have a VNC server installed on your PC, there are several options. More information can be found on the Touchpad for iPhone web page.

How to Travel Full-Time for $17,000 a Year (or Less!) Wise Bread Picks For the last five years, I've been traveling the world full-time, and for less money than I've ever spent (and I'd wager less money than most people would spend) to live in one place. My worldly possessions fit into one bag (just larger than carry-on size) and a backpack containing my laptop and computer gear. This small entourage (weighing less than 45 pounds in total) comes with me as I wander around the world, sometimes quickly, but mostly slowly. In 2011 alone, I traversed 13 countries and over 45,360 miles. Sounds pretty expensive, huh? What if I told you it wasn't? Believe it. How to Keep Your Travel Costs Low Of course, I could travel for way more than $17,000/year. Here are a few of my secrets. Don't Pay for Accommodations In the entire year of 2011, I paid $173 for accommodation. Work-Trade/Volunteer There are lots of creative opportunities to work in trade for your accommodation (and sometimes food) and enjoy a more immersive travel experience. Hospitality Exchange
(Throw Me A) Rope Bun Tutorial Two hair tutorials in one week? No, this isn't the apocalypse (and yes, I had to google how to spell "apocalypse"). If it were I'd be wearing a leotard and bedazzled hand glove, waving a handheld oscillating fan at my hair and performing a terrible rendition of "All The Single Ladies" in Times Square. Yes, that's my plan for the end of days. Deal with it. In case you missed my fishtail bun tutorial (+ fairytail) from earlier in the week, you can find it here. And here's the next tutorial for y'all - the rope bun! Here's the deal. One more thing - "left" and "right" below is oriented based on you doing it yourself and looking up (or in front of you) at your hair. - If you twist and wrap in the same direction, then your finished rope "braid" won't look any different than a regular bun. - The more strands you use, the more intricate the rope. - You can also wear the rope "braid" by itself just as a pony. UPDATE: check out the rope braid headband video tutorial, which you can find here.
2 Liter Bottles of Light | GreenCupboards Blog The slums of the Philippines are getting an extreme home makeover in the form of two liter bottles in their ceilings. The bottles function as 60-watt lights powered by 100% solar energy. Refraction is an amazing thing, if you drilled a hole in your ceiling light would drop directly through the opening in a straight line casting a shadow on the ground in the shape of the hole. The initiative in the Philippines to provide these lights to those who need them is known as “A liter of light”. Its not just the Philippines who are getting on board with liters of light. It’s rare that the simplicity of a project or initiative shocks me with its sublime form and function, yet this is one of those projects.
