French Fries: The No-Guilt Version

French Fries: The No-Guilt Version
There’s nothing like a french fried potato. The taste, the texture, the dip-ability; it’s probably one of my favorite go-to comfort foods. However, I don’t need the fat of an actual deep fried potato, and I certainly do not favor processed french fries that come from the frozen food section of the grocery store. Enter: Healthy French Fries* Step 1: Peel your ‘taters. This isn’t necessary, though, but if you decide you want the skin on make sure you scrub-wash them first. Step 2: Cut them into strips. Step 3: Place potatoes in colander and rinse the starch off of them. Step 4: Pat down the potatoes. Step 5: Drizzle Olive Oil over potatoes. Step 6: Salt those babies up. Step 7: Mix them up so they all get coated with the olive oil and salt. Step 8: Arrange them, on a baking sheet, in a single layer Step 9: Add anything else you like. Step 10: Place the potatoes into your preheated oven for 20 minutes. Step 11: Flip and continue to bake for 5-10 minutes. And then, voila… Healthy French Fries Enjoy!

Vanilla Bean Beignets with Chocolate Fudge Sauce « prettygirlscook In celebration of Mardi Gras I made these beignets. They are light fluffy pillows of fried goodness. Seriously, they are delicious! What makes them even better is the warm chocolate fudge on the side. cookie dough truffles « The Domestic Mama & The Village Cook Oh baby. Oh yes. You can have your dough and eat it too. No raw eggs here. WOOOOOO~HOOOOO! (spell-check hates it when I put my words in there)

Parmesan Roasted Potatoes Ok fine. I’m officially ready to make the transition to fall. And I thought, what better way to do it than with my all time favorite Parmesan Roasted Potatoes! These are like candy. 100% addictive. Once you stop, you just can’t stop. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles I’ve never liked chocolate chip cookies. Go ahead and throw tomatoes at me if you’d like, but I don’t like ’em. They’re just a plain old cookie, after all, with a few studs of chocolate chips in them. They’re nothing special to me, unless you get some cookie dough-action before it meets its fate in the oven. Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread I’m sorry. I know it’s Monday morning and you probably came here for some pretty pictures of food that you could glance at, and then move on with your day… and here I go thrusting warm, soft cinnamon sugar bread in your face. It’s not fair. I know it’s not fair. I know that now you’re craving cinnamon rolls, and cream cheese frosting and chili fries and hot dogs. I am too… and I already ate half of this warm bread.

Single Serving Pie in a Jar These are individual-sized pies made in little glass jars that can go straight from your freezer to your oven to your mouth. SO cute. You can make these with store-bought crust and canned filling or jazz it up with homemade like we do. And just for added cuteness we teamed up with crafting expert Lolly for some personalized tags. Fancy Macaroni I’m not going to say much. Just this: Make this sometime over the holidays. Serve it on Christmas Eve with your roast beef. Serve it the day after Christmas with a big Caesar salad. The Wanna be Country Girl This hash-brown casserole is the perfect side dish. I served it last night with my chicken pot pie to a crowd. It’s cheesy comfort food at its best. The parmesan gives it a tangy flavor, and best of all it’s really easy to fix. Its got five ingredients you mix together and pop it in the oven. Start out by adding 1 – 32 ounce bag of hash-browns to a large mixing bowl.

Garlic Knots Recipe Even since I saw the garlic knots on Just a Taste, I have been wanting to create those cutesy bread in my kitchen. When it comes to baking, I like recipes that are simple to make, and hopefully with store-bought ingredients. This garlic knots recipe is exactly what I am looking for, using a pre-made frozen pizza dough that you can get at practically any grocery stores… I have made these garlic knots three times and they were gone as soon as they were out of the oven. They are as addictive as my other favorite: Brazilian cheese bread.

apple crumble bars recipe do you love apple pie? why am i even asking? of course you love apple pie. what if you could take an apple to eat on the go? well, i present to you these apple crumble bars: “they’re like mini apple pies!” the most time consuming part of this recipe is dicing up 6 cups of apples. the hardest parts of this recipe are a) not eating most of the crisp granny smith apples as you dice them and b) not digging into the bars with a fork before you bake them.

How to Make Pizza Without Dough I was getting kind of sick of ordering delivery pizza (this happens at least 2-3 times a month). It was time to put a spin on gourmet pizza, but I just didn't know what it would be. Without pizza dough or an oven that is capable of creating the perfect pizza crust (I don't have an oven that can go up to a 1000 degrees), I decided I would use potatoes instead. This recipe is elegant enough to serve at a dinner party, but easy enough that you can cook it within 5-15 minutes. For 4 small, personal sized pizzas 4" in diameter, you will need: 2 large potatoes peeled and cleaned4 teaspoons salt (to flavor the potatoes)

Homemade Crispy Potato Tots (Tater Tots) Homemade Crispy Potato Tots (Tater Tots) I went to a Sonic Drive In for the first time a few weeks ago and was surprised to see that they served tater tots. I just had to order some, and believe me I enjoyed every last tot. I knew then and there that I needed to make a homemade version in my own kitchen. Chocolate Cupcakes with Flaming Strawberries Call me easily amused, but these little torch-topped cupcakes delight me. Besides being a cute novelty item for a party, I think they would add a little drama to the end of a romantic meal. I've been looking for something different to serve for Valentine's dessert, and this is definitely different. The strawberries are hollowed out and filled with a bit of liquor, then ignited with a match.
