art & research The arguments in this paper are, from the point of view of academic research, unsoundly reasoned and quite unsubstantiated. The paper’s polemical tone perhaps generates more heat than light. It is not intended to be a closely-argued presentation of empirical data or a contribution to critical theory. Les bordels du Nevada – RapporteursPhoto 13 nov On entend souvent parler du commerce du sexe dans les pays en voie de développement, mais aujourd’hui c’est sur ce commerce aux États-Unis que je vous propose de jeter un oeil. Brad Dececco / Nevada Brothels Pingyao International Photography Festival 2011 Celebrated: Location: Pingyao Detailed Description The Pingyao International Photography Festival, held in the ancient section of the city of Pingyao in Shanxi Province, is not only an event for photographers of all skill levels, from the neophyte to the seasoned photographer, it is also a rare event for those simply interested in photography, including both curiosity-driven local residents and tourists from far and wide, both within and without China.
Le Journal de la Photographie Portfolio Don Hamerman: Baseballs For the past several years, I have been walking our family dog at a park near our home. There's a baseball field there which has been in use for, as far as I can tell, at least 80 years. While on these walks I'd frequently find, lying right on the field or at the far edges of the park, los... webculture 「結婚相談所は恋愛結婚をあきらめた人がお見合いをしにいく場所」だなんて思っていませんか? Word of the Year 2009 Firstly, let me apologise for another post that looks back at 2009 given the avalanche that there has been over the past month. I took advantage of a few days of exile to the French countryside over the holidays to think about some of the trends that have emerged over the course of 2009. One thing that I have been particularly struck by is how ubiquitous ‘curators’ and ‘curation’ have become over the last year. I keep hearing these terms used in what I would consider to be unusual contexts, referring to the process by which the stuff that is sold in a store is selected (some ‘trend watchers’ have even labelled this curated consumption), a group of images are put together online, or even to someone making a mixtape.

Typographic town logos in hiragana/katakana [Typographic logo for Kamagaya (Chiba) spells town name in katakana] Japanese town logos -- official symbols designed to communicate the identity of each municipality -- come in a vast array of shapes and colors. Many of these municipal symbols incorporate typographical elements (particularly kanji, hiragana, katakana, and Roman letters) into their designs. In most cases, the stylized characters are straightforward and easy to spot (even if you don't read Japanese), but sometimes you have to bend your eyes to see them. art in dublin By andrea kirsh August 15, 2009 · 2 Comments It’s rare, but much more interesting, to find serious museums who are willing to take a focused look at art of particularly local interest rather than seeing yet again the same handful of artists who are fashionable at the moment throughout international art circles. I saw fascinating exhibits in July at The Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane and Project Arts Centre of two generations of artists whose themes are Irish national identity (not individual identity, as was of interest to Americans since the 1980s) during periods of change. A harrowing, historic week in Egypt They have been days of chants and chaos, bloodshed mixed with moments of breathtaking solidarity between the protesters and the soldiers sent to subdue them. The flame of social unrest that first flickered in Tunisia has spread to Egypt, culminating with the announcement Tuesday by President Hosni Mubarak that after three decades in power, he would not run for another term. The clashes left government buildings in ashes, stores ransacked, and an economy teetering. Painting online game paint brush online Painting online game paint brush online.
