Soothe Winter Skin with this Homemade Sugar Scrub
Winter skin has been an issue for me, for as long as I can remember. All summer long I swim, garden and hike around in the Southern California sun. Occasionally I will leave my skin outdoors for too long, turning it bright pink (never the deep, creamy brown my mom and sister have) but it always bounces right back to my soft, milk-white and freckly skin. In the winter months however, my skin completely dries out on me. Winter is when my skin should love me!

How To Make A Stylish Photo Frame For Several Photos
Here is a simple yet stylish photo frame that can accomodate quite many photos at once. The idea is very simple. Fasten twines on the empty frame and hang photos using clothes pins on them.

Crocheted Doily Rug
Two more things to cross off my crafty to-do list: 1. make a giant rug sized crochet doily 2. try crocheting with zpagetti, the recycled fabric remnant yarn made in, you guessed, it The Netherlands! You can crochet a giant doily and use it as a rug, or even as well, a giant doily! This one would look great on a round table, or just about anywhere really. I have to admit though, as much as I just love this rug doily, I really don't have a use for it, good thing this was a quick project made over two afternoons while the kids were playing on the living room floor! I wish I could tell you that this is just the greatest project and the greatest yarn, oh well— I love the rug, but I wouldn't recommend using a single strand of zpagetti for a rug with an open pattern like this one.

Yet another DIY! Summer is a time to create and when summer hits I definitely put down my knitting needles a bit more…THE HEAT! It is hard to knit with even the softest wool fiber when it is close to the triple digits outside. So here is a fun tutorial for those of you who are taking a breather from knitting. This clip was designed using a button off one of my old sweaters and some feathers I already had on hand (from all the feather extensions I have been putting in). If you purchased feathers for feather extensions and you have some left this is a great project to use them up on.

This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar, artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this? Given the opportunity my son could probably cover the entire piano alone in about fifteen minutes.

How to make boxes from paint swatches
If you've got paint chips sitting around begging to be made into something, try folding them into boxes for paperclips, thumbtacks, party favor candies, or tiny gifts. I made these from Behr swatches, available at Home Depot. You'll need paint swatches, double-stick tape, an X-acto knife, ruler, and cutting mat.
