Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO
Fitbit has discontinued their Fitbit One step trackers, which seems like a good opportunity to step back and reflect on wearing one for the last decade or so. I’ve enjoyed using Fitbit trackers, but the One devices seemed like they broke down too often. I’m pretty proud that I ended up earning all the activity-related Fitbit badges though: In 2013, I ran a 50 mile race and I took 110,472 steps that day. I think I did some extra steps late that night just in case Fitbit ever increased their top step badge from 100K to 105K or 110K steps. The lifetime miles badge took care of itself as long as I wore my Fitbit. But the Rainbow badge was a little harder: 700 floors in one day. DC isn’t known for its high buildings. That’s how I found myself on a Sunday morning in July 2018. Wait a second–the badge is only for 700 floors, so why did I climb 800+ floors? Overall, Fitbit’s badges have probably pushed me to walk more, along with a goal to get 10,000 steps a day.

Nine by Fox blog: words from Vanessa Fox - Nine By Blue This past week at SXSW, Google’s Matt Cutts talked about an upcoming “over-optimization” algorithm launch aimed at those who abuse search engine optimization. Rob Snell transcribed the session, which included these comments from Matt (I’ve updated this article to include fuller comments from the transcript): “The idea is basically to try and level the playing ground a little bit.

The Full Value of Mobile Webinar The Full Value of Mobile With mobile, we are no longer seeing consumers taking linear shopping paths that begin and end on the same device: while many users start their journey on mobile and complete purchases on the phone, many also start on mobile and end up buying in-store or on different devices. dom Last weekend, I went to Austin for the first time. Of course, I was unable to resist trying out yet another travel-related startup in the process. I’ve already got a good thing going on my drive to and from SFO with DriveNow, I breeze through security with TSA Precheck (While I participate in the program, I don’t totally agree with it. For one thing, I’ve been classified as not so dangerous that I need a full body scan or pat-down, but still shady enough that I should still be checked for metal.), and I comfortably fly Virgin America (or at least get upgraded on a legacy carrier) when possible.

90 Questions to Ask Before Starting a Website Redesign When can you launch it? How much is it going to cost? These seem to be the only two questions clients really care about when it comes to redesigning a website. Yet, a redesign is an opportunity for so much more. What Requirements Documents Does A Business Analyst Create? Are you working on your first project as a business analyst? Have you ever wondered exactly what requirements documents a business analyst creates for review by the business and technical teams? While the requirements documents created for any specific project will heavily depend on the type of project, the needs and preferences of your business and technical stakeholders, and your organization’s business analysis standards, what follows is a set of specifications you might consider creating as a business analyst. Stakeholder Analysis Even if the business analyst doesn’t create a formal stakeholder analysis specification, you will need to determine who the sponsor and key business stakeholders for the project, the multiple perspectives you’ll want to bring in to the requirements, and discover anyone else who needs to be involved. On a technology project, stakeholders typically involve subject matter experts from the business and IT teams.

Présentation des méthodes agiles et Scrum In this part, we will give an example of application of the Scrum method such that it is implemented on some projects in companies. Of course, that present such rituals may vary from a company or organization to another (or even from one project to another in some companies) and are not necessarily all related to the Scrum method although often implemented in an agile context (is notably the case of the approach of the "Test Driven Development" that we will present later). The different stages of initialization of an iteration (or sprint) are lively and under the responsibility of the scrum master. II-C-1-a.
