English songs for ESL kids english songs for kids Kids love songs! Singing traditional kids' songs can be a great and fantastic way to teach English to young learners. With the help of amusing, easy to remember songs they learn new words, expressions and pronunciation quickly, and have fun at the same time. Here you will find a small collection of the most popular English songs for kids and Christmas carols. King Arthur, Caerleon and Camelot The place name 'Camelot' does not occur in early versions of the story of Arthur. However, Geoffrey of Monmouth (1133AD) tells how Arthur held court at 'The City Of The Legions' and leaves us in little doubt that this was Caerleon. Certainly Caerleon would have been a most impressive location for Arthur to hold court for important rulers, with its splendid roman remains. Equally, we can be sure that only a professional army could defend the Roman fortress ruins. If Caerleon was more than just a meeting place for Arthur we must look to the surrounding hill tops for the location of his 'castle'. Sure enough such a site exists less than a mile North of the village - a fortification known as 'Belinstocke'.

14 Song-Based Lesson Plans and Activities Although I know I like using music in my teaching, I never thought there would be so much of it on this blog when I started it over a year ago. Songs are fun, authentic sources with multiple possibilities in the classroom, but the main reason for having published 14 lesson plans and activities based on songs here is to a large extent due to copyright issues: while lyrics and songs are easily available for everyone online, access to other types of authentic texts is more limited because of copyright constraints. I also think the key to a successful song-based lesson is to deal with the text as you would with any other type of short text, whether written or oral, to practise a variety of comprehension skills, work on specific grammar and vocabulary, or introduce a topic for discussion. Choosing a song that meets the students’ needs is not always easy, though. Listening for specific information
