Cinnamon Toast Rolls - Circle B Kitchen

Cinnamon Toast Rolls - Circle B Kitchen
The USDA released its new food pyramid the other day (which is actually a plate now instead of a pyramid), and I am sorely disappointed to report that cinnamon rolls did not appear anywhere on that plate. I think by now most of us know what should be on our dinner plate in terms of healthy, well-rounded nutrient-laden meals, but it is my considered opinion that our breakfast plate should include cinnamon rolls now and then. And not just any cinnamon roll, mind you, but how ‘bout a homemade cinnamon roll hybrid that is a cross between a cinnamon roll and cinnamon toast, is super easy to make and gosh darn delicious. In honor of their ancestry, I call these little gems cinnamon toast rolls, and here’s all you need to make them… Yep. That’s it… some soft white bread, some butter and some cinnamon sugar. Trim the crusts off of the bread Roll the bread really flat Brush both sides of the bread with butter Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar Cinnamon Toast Rolls Click here for a printable recipe

Quick and Easy Lemon Cake This is the lemon cake that my Nana usually always makes for me when I go home to California. We both forgot about it during my last visit and I didn’t realize until I got back to Sicily that I hadn’t had my Lemon Jello Cake fix. Luckily, I have the recipe! And lucky for you, I’m going to share it! This is one of the easiest cakes you can make and I will argue that it’s one of the best-tasting cakes you will ever eat. How To Make Perfect Brownies I’ve tried lots of brownie recipes: Boxes, scratch, frosted, plain, nuts, chips, fudge … Each of them has something to like, but depending on my mood I might want a change of pace. Not any more. My wife found this recipe, and it’s perfect. I’m done looking.

Better-Than-Crack-Brownies I’m sorry for doing this to you. I really am. But see, last Friday while I was on a 10-hour road trip heading for vacation, I received this recipe from a reader named Liz. Liz, I love you. That’s all I have to say. I was tortured by this recipe for a full 8 days before I could make it.

Vanilla Latte Cookies November 3, 2011 | Print | E-mail | Filed under 12weeksofchristmascookies, cookie Now that Halloween is over (and we’re halfway through the 12 Weeks of Christmas Cookies!), are you already planning for Thanksgiving? I know some who are already knee-deep in planning, and others who haven’t even thought about it yet. I’m somewhere in between; since it’s my turn to host again this year, I’ve been trying to put together a menu at least so that I can let people know what else to bring.

Salted Chocolate We’re watching our friend’s cat right now, and it’s a lot of fun. Kramer and I want to get a pet so badly, but I just don’t think that I have the time, energy, or, frankly, money, to take care of an animal the way I would like to. For now, though, it’s just fun to pretend to have a pet for a week. His name is Eddie and he’s pretty funny. I’ve never had a cat before, but Kramer grew up with them so he’s more accustomed to their behavior than I am. to make: cobbler baked in jars I made these for the Seattle Bake Sale for Share Our Strength organized by Frantic Foodie (thanks Keren!). I had so much fun making pies in jars that I figured this was the perfect opportunity to bake something else in jars. This time I used half-pint wide mouth jars, a nice size for a bake sale. (Half pint jars washed and drying.) I used the blueberry cobbler recipe from Baking Illustrated. I was making 24 portions so the first time I tried to divide each recipe between 8 jars (making three total recipes worth).

Lovin' From the Oven: Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies I procrastinate from my homework the best when I’m baking. Seriously. Instead of writing a 1000 word paper, I browse through my bookmarks on my computer and decide what I want to bake. After figuring out my next culinary mission, I get right to it and start mixing my little heart away. Once everything is set and cooled, I figure, “Well… I already have all my materials out, why not bake something else?” Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip - What Megans Making Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip It’s time for a little confession. I realize this may get me shunned (especially in my hometown of Pittsburgh!) Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cake Cheesecake Last week I got an email from a kind reader asking if I would consider developing a recipe for one of her favorite "factory-made" desserts. The minute I clicked the link she provided, I knew I wanted to make her cheesecake dreams come true. I had concerns about how this cake would translate to real world baking. Homemade Cereal Bars Recipe Homemade cereal grain bars are even tastier than the boxed version, but so much healthier. These are made with oats, flaxseed meal, and honey, and easily made vegan or gluten-free. My kids love nutrigrain and other fruit cereal bars. At first glance, they look like a healthy easy lunchbox option. Many are even organic. Caramel Brownie Cheesecake This is a monkeyhead concoction so please don’t be disappointed with me that it’s not 100% homemade. Sometimes as a mom you have to go with your childrens ideas in order to lift their creative wings. Monkey One loves cheesecake and caramel, Monkey Two has a passion for brownies you put the two of these knuckleheads together and look at what they come up with… Caramel Brownie Cheesecake.

Cream Cheese Brownie Cups Cream Cheese Brownie Cups Summer is flying by and although I have been mighty thankful for some cooler temperatures, I am not ready for school to start. My older boys will be starting two a days football practice on Monday. They will both be in high school this year, how exactly did this happen, can somebody tell me?

How To Make Barista-Worthy Coffee At Home Make coffee at home instead of buying fancy lattes at the local cafe (or, OK, Starbucks outpost), and you’ll save boatloads of cash each year. Shocking, right? If only it were that simple. Although financial gurus repeatedly trot out the so-called latte factor as a prime example of how we’re all busting our budgets, the tired tip fails to account for one major hurdle: taste. If we all boasted barista skills and our home kitchens had $1,000-plus espresso machines, the venti whatevers wouldn’t stand a chance.
