A Slightly Nerdy, But Awesome Way to Share Event Photos | Apartment Therapy Unplggd We just found a clever way to use Dropbox to share photos from everyone at event parties. Sure, you could settle for Facebook's highly compressed photos, or you could have them all so you can pick and choose what photos belong in your own collection. Step 1: Use Google Docs to create a form that asks for everyone's e-mail. Step 2. Step 3: Create a Dropbox folder for the event photos. Step 4: Post the QR code on a large poster at the party, stating it'll be used to collect e-mails and give access to all the photos taken here tonight. Step 5: Use the collected e-mails from the Google Form to send invites to the shared Dropbox folder. Of course, there are a few issues here that we will quickly acknowledge. We gave it a run at a recent local tech meetup and it was a huge success. Let us know if this method works for you or if you have a better variation of it!

2D Barcodes and Mobile Tagging | Microsoft Tag HOW TO: Use QR Codes for Event Marketing Matthias Galica is CEO of ShareSquare. Via a self-serve mobile web app CMS and QR codes, the ShareSquare platform enhances real world promotions for artists, agencies & brands. Mashable readers can sign up for the private beta for free by clicking here. Nearly every year since 1994 has been hyped as the year that QR codes pierce the mainstream, but in 2011 the hubbub is finally reaching a fever pitch. This is thanks to a confluence of factors: Critical mass in smartphone penetration, a large installed base of many barcode-scanning apps, and an approaching social tipping point of awareness. Combine this with the fact that enhancing real world promotions in music, film and brand marketing is among the best applications of this technology, and next month’s SXSW has the potential to be the breakout event for QR codes in America. Unfortunately, many well-intentioned early adopters will waste the opportunity by not delivering enough value or making some very simple mistakes. Brands and Sponsors
YouTube is Useless YouTube is useless at boosting traffic if you’re not using it to its fullest potential. YouTube is home to 490 million users, and offers the possibility of sending interested users to your website, but only if you know how to use it. If your video isn’t up to snuff, it’ll only gather cobwebs and be forgotten about. Everyone wants their video to go viral, right? So, how do we go about it? Two factors make up a viral video: the video itself and how well the video is optimized. Finding Your Keywords Now, I would say that this would be a first step for all users looking to optimize their videos. A good tool for this would be – this tool suggests keywords to you that are similar to those you entered. The Algorithm To optimize our videos, we must know what the search results are based on. When you create your video, there are only three parts that you can control: the Title, Description, and the video’s Tags. Title Description Tags Likes and Comments Views
QR Codes 2011 Lately I’ve seen QR (quick response) codes popping up everywhere. Google Launches Homepage Shortcuts On Mobile We’re here at Google’s Inside Search event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and Google’s Amit Singhal has just revealed a new landing page and homepage shortcuts for Google mobile. With these shortcuts mobile users will be able to find local restaurants, coffee shops, bars and more when they hit the Google homepage on iOS or Android (see left). Hitting one of the shortcuts lets you see a map of all the restaurants, coffee shops, etc in your area as well as their individual place pages. Useful. While last time we were here Google announced Google Instant, this time the focus is more granular search innovations like the + symbols in the mobile query box on the Google mobile homepage, making it easier and faster to complete searches with Google’s suggestions on the go. The Google mobile interface isn’t the only thing that will get a refresh says Singhal, Google has changes for its tablet search interfaces also in the works which should be unveiled next week.
