We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success.

Liquid to Light Designer Ed Chew takes a green step in the right direction with the TetraBox lamp, a light object made from discarded drink packets that would have otherwise ended up in landfills already packed to the brim. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape. Step 1: Pick a pattern and choose your colors. I'll do a simple chevron. You're going to want to make the color of your first string longer than the others. In this tutorial, purple is the first string.
Sashiko: Traditional Japanese Sashiko Design & Instruction
The origin of sashiko is not very clear. However, through the last few centuries, this type of embroidery has been practiced in many districts in Japan. There are 3 variations of sashiko still commonly used, which are simple sashiko, hitomezashi and kogin. Simple Sashiko, Hitomezashi, and Kogin Early homespun fabrics were woven from grass, tree-bark fibers, ramie, hemp and wisteria, then hand-dyed. The stitching was traditionally done with white thread on indigo fabric.

Arrow bracelet - #2 Friendship Bracelet Tutorial
After you've done a few successful strip bracelets (pattern 1), you're ready to do the arrow one (chevron, #2). For this bracelet you need to know both forward and backward knots. When you're doing the arrow bracelet, you need two strings of each colour. That means that when you're doing a bracelet from eight strings, you need four colours. You are working from both sides with two string of the same colour, which are then tied together in the middle to create a 'V' or an arrow.
