A few days ago I chatted with an Islamist, a young Pakistani man who dreamed of establishing a pan-Islamic caliphate stretching across the Muslim world and based on the ancient laws of Muhammad. This young man voiced ideas that would have shocked me once, but which I have become familiar with over years of online discussions. A mutual friend, however, was appalled and baffled by his theocratic notions so I decided to put together this list of tips for debating with Islamists.

It is a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator that can be sent from user to user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network without the need for intermediaries.[8] Bitcoin has been criticized for its use in illegal transactions, its high electricity consumption, price volatility, thefts from exchanges, and the possibility that bitcoin is an economic bubble.[14] Bitcoin has also been used as an investment, although several regulatory agencies have issued investor alerts about bitcoin.[15]
