Poésy takes on the tone of a modern-day Gala, a self-assured seductress, who was famously a muse to a whole slew of Surrealist artists and writers, including Max Ernst and André Breton. Reading the letter with a hint of regret, she stands firm by her decision to trade in the poet for the painter. Directed by Elsa Klughertz, the intention was to convey the sense of undated emotion that is tangible in personal letters.
Chris Jordan Exploring around our country's shipping ports and industrial yards, where the accumulated detritus of our consumption is exposed to view like eroded layers in the Grand Canyon, I find evidence of a slow-motion apocalypse in progress. I am appalled by these scenes, and yet also drawn into them with awe and fascination. The immense scale of our consumption can appear desolate, macabre, oddly comical and ironic, and even darkly beautiful; for me its consistent feature is a staggering complexity. The pervasiveness of our consumerism holds a seductive kind of mob mentality. Collectively we are committing a vast and unsustainable act of taking, but we each are anonymous and no one is in charge or accountable for the consequences. I fear that in this process we are doing irreparable harm to our planet and to our individual spirits.
Get me a LandJob! - Welcome to Fire After long contemplation about my life purpose, I settled on fire as the main forestry aspect I want to devote my energy to. I started off with grad school interviews for a M.S. degree with a focus in fire ecology. The number one question that came up: “So... do you have any fire experience?” Seeing as I didn’t find my calling until three semesters before I graduated, the answer was unfortunately “no”. I had already started applying to numerous fire jobs, in every state I deemed “livable” (everywhere from CA to as far over as the Dakotas). Considering the suggestions I was given, I was able to refine my application to areas with higher probability of employment for first time fire experience.
A Land for Dreamers An image that went viral on the web is “Go Your Own Road” by Erik Johansson. Since 2009, this Swedish artist has become internationally acclaimed with a large following on Facebook, commissioned by companies like Adobe, Microsoft and Google, and invited to speak at TEDSalon in London. Johansson is more inspired by painters like Dali and Magritte, and of course graphic illusionist Escher, than actual photographers. Because his interest is making the picture, not just capturing it. Johansson carefully plans each concept, which can take months as he selects locations to photograph. Those pictures then go through a digital montage process via Photoshop, with plenty of layers to create a single, realistic looking shot. Agnieszka Rayss I photographed a process without which life Warsaw would be impossible. We draw water from beneath the Vistula and return it to the river. These places are seldom seen. Mysterious places, at the heart of the city, but un-urban, by the river, but hidden beyond thick growth.

After finding the Costica Acsinte Archive on Flickr I became fascinated with the images and their subjects. I wanted to bring them to life. But more than that I wanted to give them a story. I wanted there to be some ambiguity about the images. He used special gears at the time of photo-shoot but the shots look so real that it convinces even the best of people that it is real and happening.
