New Science Apps from Pearson to Help English Language Learners and Struggling Middle Schoolers
Mobile Apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch Showcased at National Science Teachers Association’s 2011 Conference San Francisco – March 10, 2011 – At the National Science Teachers Association’s (NSTA) annual conference, Pearson today showcased three new Language Central for Science apps for students in grades 6-8. The apps are designed to help struggling students and English Language Learners master the vocabulary that is the foundation for understanding and mastering science concepts. The new apps are on display at the NSTA conference and have already been downloaded more than 30,000 times since debuting on iTunes in February.
Apps to Use as Student ePortfolios
I have yet to find the perfect Digital Portfolio app that I think I would use exclusively in a Visual Arts class. Some apps can be used as graphic portfolios or as beautiful sketchbooks, others are great at sharing. Not all of the apps available are great at all of these things. I have spent a heap of time trying to find one and would be more than happy for someone to send me the name of one they are using successfully.

How to Integrate Dropbox with Pages, Keynote, and Numbers on iPad
The iWork apps are some of the best apps on the iPad, and each show just how powerful a touchscreen device can be with the most basic of computing functions. In fact, there’s not much to dislike about the iWork apps, except for one thing: importing and exporting files. You can open documents from email attachments, download them from websites, or import them from other apps like Dropbox. Once you’ve opened your file in Pages, Keynote, or Numbers on iPad, though, you can only send it via email, upload it to a WebDAV server or Apple’s iDisk service, or wait to sync it with iTunes on your computer. Most other iOS office apps don’t offer nearly as many features as the iWork apps, but they do offer deep integration with Dropbox which makes it easy to view and edit your documents no matter where you are.
