Marina Abramović Made Me Cry Marina Abramović Made Me Cry Photographs by Marco Anelli. From the book: PORTRAITS IN THE PRESENCE OF MARINA ABRAMOVIC (Marco Anelli © 2010) Portraits taken during the MoMA's exhibit of performance artist "Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present". Some people couldn't handle the heat.
About Marina Abramović | Marina - A Documentary Film about Marina Abramović Marina Abramovic, born in 1946 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, is without question one of the seminal artists of our time. Since the beginning of her career in Yugoslavia during the early 1970s where she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Abramovic has pioneered the use of performance as a visual art form. The body has always been both her subject and medium. Exploring the physical and mental limits of her being, she has withstood pain, exhaustion, and danger in the quest for emotional and spiritual transformation. Abramovic's concern is with creating works that ritualize the simple actions of everyday life like lying, sitting, dreaming, and thinking; in effect the manifestation of a unique mental state. From 1975 until 1988, Abramovic and the German artist Ulay performed together, dealing with relations of duality. In 2005, Abramovic presented Balkan Erotic Epic at the Pirelli Foundation in Milan, Italy and at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York.

[Art & Culture] | Espacio de arte y pensamiento The renewal of protest books | who needs another photo blog According to the social medias’ new year’s wishes, there is a very pessimistic mood over what used to be our quiet little world ! But it is right that, if you consider the cold facts, the world seems turning upside down, just considering the wars, the terror attacks, the migrant crisis or the boost of weapon sells… Well I can hear you saying, this is not the best way to start the year ! The first of these works is “Forthright, stronger than a weapon” by photographer Sascha Kraus. This is a 444 pages heavy book with more than 250 photos of 43 artists from 13 countries. I also want to draw your attention to the quality of the photos in this book and the high standarts of printing. More info : In a very different register but with a very strong power of protest, two small fascicules devoted to the migrants, and in particular to the jungle of Calais, were published during the year 2016. HA Schult, Art is Life | Action | Trash The most important material used by HA Schult for his attacks against an impassive, and waning cultural institution is garbage. Garbage used as a material of refusal and provocation. Armin Zweite, 1974 If I were an artist educator, I would go with young people and walk the garbage heaps of industrialized civilization, because by destroying this order one breaks through its facade. HA Schult’s art is like a heavily loaded vaccination injection whose effects have not missed the mark regarding society’s awareness. More and more artists are using trash not just as a material but also as a subject. sub art Munich, 1968 Terra Extra Galerie Nächst St. Situation Schackstraße Munich, 1969 Unwelt Lenbachhaus Munich, 1974 Tribute to Beckenbauer Lenbachhaus Munich, 1974 Tribute to Beckett Staatstheater Stuttgart, 1974 Venezia Vive Piazza San Marco, Venice, 1976 Crash New York – documenta 6, 1977 Trash Concert Ruhrdistrict, Germany, 1978 Trash City National Studios, New York, N.Y., 1983 Trash People.
